Around the World Book Club

Around the World Book Club for students in grades 6-8 combines a love of reading, eating, and learning about global perspectives. Meetings will take place on the last Monday of the month during the school year, but not on school holidays or during school breaks.

Participants can sample foods from diverse cultures related to the Young Adult (YA) books read by the group. 

Titles will be selected by the Teen Librarian that are appropriate and appealing to middle school students and represent multicultural perspectives and characters. This year, we are alternating graphic novels and text-based fiction and memoir. 

Copies of the books are available to check out from the library in print or digital format or you can obtain your own copy. Contact the teen librarian if you need help finding a copy or placing a hold on a book.

Participants are welcome to bring food to the meeting to share with the group, and the Library will provide delicious treats as well.

September 28 - Two graphic novels: No Rules Tonight and Almost American Girl

October 26 - We are Not Free

November 30 - Two graphic novels: Huda F Are You? and Fustuk

January 25 - Where the Heart Should Be

February 22 - Two graphic novels: Displacement and The Magic Fish

March 29 - Snowglobe

April 26 - Two graphic novels: The Odyssey and The Iliad by Gareth Hinds
