Author Talk with Jim Wood
Thirty Words: 50 Years of Photographs & Stories
Join Jim Wood, co-founder of Marin Magazine, for a conversation about Thirty Words, his new book featuring a one-of-a-kind collection of photos spanning 50 years, and the stories behind the images.
Schedule:
- 5:30 pm - Wine & Cheese Reception
- 6:00 pm - Author Talk, followed by a book signing
The idea for Thirty Words began when Jim Wood discovered more than 2,400 Kodachrome slides while cleaning out his garage. From this forgotten collection, he selected 196 photographs from around the world and paired them with 30 words that capture the emotions, experiences, and moments reflected in the images — from Love and Contentment to Family and Concentration.
Though Wood does not consider himself a professional photographer — he describes himself as a “point-and-shoot” guy — the photographs are striking, and each image offers a glimpse into the moments, memories, and experiences that inspired the book.
Wood will share the story behind the book, the photographs that shaped it, and the unexpected journey from a box of old slides to a book.
Copies of Thirty Words will be available for purchase.
Jim Wood is the co-founder and former publisher of Marin Magazine where he has spent decades writing about and celebrating the people, places, and culture of Marin County. He pens “Looking Back” the magazine’s longest running feature.
