Clothing Mending Workshop

Sun Sep 13, 2026
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Makerspace

Join us in the Makerspace to learn how to extend the life of your wardrobe. Whether it’s a loose button or a worn-out knee, we’ll show you how to turn "damaged" into "designed." Ages 10+ are welcome.

Stop letting a small tear or a bad fit keep you from wearing what you love. Our hands-on workshop covers everything from hemming and tailoring to patching and darning.

What You'll Learn:

  • Darning: A method for repairing holes or worn areas in knit fabrics
  • Visible Mending: A creative approach that embraces the repair by making it a feature
  • Tailoring: Learn how to hem garments, take in seams, or adjust fit to make clothes more comfortable and flattering.
  • Patches: Reinforce or cover damaged areas with fabric patches, either discreetly or as a decorative design element.
  • Japanese Mending (Sashiko): A traditional Japanese technique that combines repair with beauty, using small, even stitches to strengthen and embellish worn fabric.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a few garments in need of repair—anything from well-loved jeans to a sweater with a small tear. No prior sewing experience is required.

All tools and basic materials will be provided, along with guidance and support throughout the session.

Ages 10+ are welcome
