The Evolution of the California School of Fine Arts, 1945–1969

Dr. Emma Acker, the first Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (FAMSF) curator to speak at THE Gallery, will discuss Made in San Francisco: The Evolution of the California School of Fine Arts, 1945–1969. This exhibition, slated for spring 2027 and also part of Further Triennial, will address postwar Bay Area artistic developments and movements, including Bay Area Abstract Expressionism and Figuration, along with Beat, Funk, and Assemblage art. ARTalk attendees will get a sneak peek at FAMSF's Further Triennial contribution, with a presentation on Bay Area greats that emphasizes color and ties in with our Palette in Play exhibition.
