Preparedness Starts at Home

September is National Preparedness Month, a time for all of us to take small, simple steps to make a big difference in our safety and peace of mind. The theme for this year is “Preparedness Starts at Home,” and we couldn’t agree more. Being ready for an emergency means protecting the people and things that matter most.

We’re proud to be collaborating with Ready Marin and the Tiburon Police Department to host a series of free events. Join us throughout September to learn new skills, connect with your community, and feel more confident in your ability to handle whatever comes your way.

Here’s a look at what’s happening this month:

• Radio for Emergencies | Saturday, September 13
  Cell phones and internet can go down, but radio waves are a reliable backup. Learn how to use radio communication as a lifeline during emergencies. We’ll cover everything you need to know, from getting your license to choosing the right gear.
• Disaster Preparedness Class | Tuesday, September 16
  Join us for an essential training session hosted by our friends at Ready Marin. This class is designed to give you practical skills and knowledge to protect yourself, your family, and your community. Sign up now and take the first step toward being prepared.
• Build a Personal Go Bag | Saturday, September 20
  Don’t get caught unprepared! A “Go Bag” is a personalized emergency kit with all the essentials you and your family need to be safe for at least 72 hours. Join us to learn how to pack a kit that’s perfect for your unique needs.
• Meshtastic Workshop | Wednesday, September 24
  Ever wonder what you’d do if the cell towers went down? Meshtastic is a powerful, off-grid communication network you can build yourself. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own private, secure way to stay in touch, even when the power is out.
