Join the Marin Civil Grand Jury

Information Session

Thu Apr 4, 2024
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Founders Room

Learn from members of the Marin Civil Grand Jury about joining the independent watchdog that consists of citizens concerned about how issues are handled by the county, cities, towns, & local agencies.

California’s Constitution requires its 58 counties to have Civil Grand Juries to investigate residents’ complaints and concerns involving how public money is spent and to increase responsiveness, transparency, and effectiveness.

If you are concerned about how issues are handled, or not handled, by the county, cities, towns and local agencies, want to investigate current issues in Marin, and offer actionable recommendations to departments and entities within the county and municipalities, this could be a volunteer opportunity for you.

To qualify for this important watchdog assignment, you will need to be:

  • At least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Marin for at least one year.
  • Able to commit to approximately 15-20 hours a week for one year.
  • Willing to ensure investigations remain confidential and fact-based and work in a collaborative group environment.
  • Able to conduct and analyze written and verbal information.
  • Able to use a computer and have access to email.
